Handmade from the Heart

Your bead was made by a young student in Yetebon, Ethiopia, who was taught this magical skill by American bead artists volunteering their time, teaching them this incredible craft. What a wonderful gift, heart caring artists sharing their talent so freely with the developing world.

HeartBeads and the HOPE Bracelet Project

HeartBeads are the latest initiative from The Cunningham Foundation in support of The HOPE Bracelet Project. In 2003 American jewelry artists taught Ethiopian students to make bracelets, the beads were donated by many self less bead makers throughout the World. In 2006, it’s second stage of this project, we taught them how to make their own beads, so eventually they can become self sufficient in their bead and jewelry making endeavors.

Now in its fifth year, The HOPE Bracelet Project continues to support the mission of Project Mercy by providing much-needed support to impoverished families.

The project gives HOPE to a struggling community by “teaching them to fish,” thereby creating an ongoing revenue source and encouraging the pride of craftsmanship and self-sufficiency.

We have raised more than $355,000 since the project’s inception in 2003.
